A little bit about our club and history

room or office number, and a reference to  
"GSOLFOT"? Maybe you followed a link or
did a search to get to this website? However
it happened, we are glad you are here
Welcome to GSOLFOT! This is a site for the
wilder side of miniatures!
We are an international club, and our
members have one thing in common -
making and collecting miniatures.
As miniaturists we all share an interest in
making and displaying scale miniatures
depicting homes and objects from various
periods in history from ancient to modern.   
Our vignettes are a slice of life or a glimpse
of a fantasy world!
A miniaturist is a person who creates things in a smaller scale whether it
is in 1:12 or 1/144th size it all depends on the artist. Some extremely
talented people can even make a whole house that fits in the palm of
your hand.The skills demonstrated by miniaturists run the gamut of skills
used in life size. Woodworking, needlecraft, sculpting, artistry,
metalwork, electrical installation, painting, papercraft and almost any
talent or hobby you can imagine is applied in a scaled down format.
Explaining GSOLFOT
Welcome to The World Famous GSOLFOT Club
GSOLFOT came about when a new miniaturist called Noni asked for
people to sign her guest book at a photos site and added "'I would
probably get more response asking you all to wear a green sock on your
left foot on Tuesdays."'   That line was the beginning of "The Green
Sock on Left Foot on Tuesdays Club".
But GSOLFOT  is more than just a miniatures club,  it is a place where imagination and fantasy are mixed in
with talent, creativity, and a deep caring for one another.  Here we get not only information and help with our
craft, but support and comfort with real life as well.  Our meetings are daily and virtual, but we are thrilled when
we have a chance to meet another "sockee" in real life.  This might happen at a miniatures show or during a
vacation trip.  Sockees have been known to travel great distances for the chance to meet one another
The most important criterion for membership is a bit of insanity - the ability to
enter a world of magic and wonder, of dragons and adventure - without that
GSOLFOT would be just another miniatures club.  Membership is limited to
around 100 members so we get to know each other well.  We always sign
guest books when we visit other sites, being sure to include GSOLFOT with
our signatures.  We hope in this way to achieve "world domination" or at least
recognition - after all, the name GSOLFOT is certain to create curiosity.
